I was delighted to share a (virtual) platform with some brilliant colleagues from Cranfield University and elsewhere on May 7th. The subject? Taking stock of where we are after the shock of the first few weeks of this crisis.
Introductory comments from each speaker were followed by a discussion in response to questions raised by delegates. We’ve had some great feedback from delegates on the content and how useful they found it to be.
- Dr Stephanie Hussels talked about entrepreneurship and the three areas on which growing businesses must focus now (starting at 36’45”).
- Professor Joe Nellis talked about the shock to the economy and the factors that might determine where the economy goes from here (starting at 13’50”).
- Professor David Denyer talked about leadership, organisational resilience, the lessons we need to learn and apply, and the connection between Pep Guardiola and feeding birds (starting at 20’45”).
- I talked about the changes we’ve seen in marketing and how we might be seeing the first signs of a return to some form of normality, plus how to deal with Covid communications. (starting at 7’10”).
- Completing the picture were Emmnuelle Clement from SEMLEP (at 30’00”), and Lewis Stringer from the British Business Bank (at 43’00”), who talked about the various sources of support available to business via their organisations.
My thanks to Dr Stephanie Hussels, Sabrina Sommer, Chloe Rose-Flatt, and all of the team at the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurship for hosting this event and inviting me to speak. This team continues to do a brilliant job of hosting this and all the other online sessions in the BGP Response Programme.
The recording of the session is free to view and you can watch it here:
I’d be happy to discuss any of the subjects raised during this session. Please contact us.
